Mango x Black Collar Necklace: Handmade Reclaimed Exotic Wood Crystal with Black Wood Discs on Brass with Gunmetal Finish and Toggle Clasp
As usual, one of a kind! I handmade these crystals from reclaimed exotic wood cut offs discarded from woodworkers' projects. Each piece is sanded to silky smooth perfection and finished with an everything friendly oil (food safe! child safe! fume safe!).
This piece is Mango wood! Far more often known for its fruit, Mango trees produce a gorgeous lumber in a rainbow of color providing for these natural pops in forming. It also has a highly varied and pronounced grain that adds beautiful lines throughout. Mango is a native wood of tropical Asia and Oceania, and often comes from Hawaii. It is not a threatened wood species. [Fun Fact: "Exotic" wood simply refers to a non-North American species in most cases.] Some consider Mango a good source of sustainable lumber because many Mango farmers cut their trees for lumber once they are done producing fruit.
The painted black discs are traditionally made and lightweight - a reason I love wood beads! The hammered silver O's add to the asymmetrical design. I used a brass chain with a gunmetal finish and toggle clasp that gives the necklace an adjustable length of 16.5" to 18".
**Chain can be lengthened by request. Just add a note when purchasing.
100% Handmade and Original design. Every crystal is made by me and finished by hand.
